Bee Movie
(G)
Synopsis: Barry B.
Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) is a graduate bee fresh out of college who is disillusioned
at his lone career choice: making honey. On a rare trip outside the hive,
Barry's life is saved by Vanessa (Renee Zellweger), a florist in New York
City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans are mass consumers
of honey and decides to sue the human race for stealing bees' honey.
Robert's Review
What the heck was
the point of "Bee Movie?" I was confused and bored for 90 minutes straight
trying to figure out what the point was supposed to be. Bees (and apparently
all animals) can speak the human languages and they decide to sue humankind
for stealing their honey… um… oohhhh-kaayyy?!?! The jokes were just terrible
and the movie just wasn't funny at all. The animation was decent, but so
what? The characters were idiots, the story was disjointed and confusing,
and the end product was what?... 90 minutes of my life sucked out of me?
Thanks DreamWorks! I'll be sure to send you the bill for all the therapy
I'll need after watching this steaming pile of animated crap! Overall,
if you must see this, wait for DVD and save your $10! However, if you have
kids and they're insisting on seeing this now… then, um… have fun with
that.
All in all, I'd give
this movie 1.5 Honey Jars (out of 5). Re-watch value: NONE
Brett's Review
We have seen movies
about ants and bugs so why not bees? Ok… So a movie about a bee that
sues the humans for stealing honey. I supposed it could have been
worse, maybe a bee who starts a nightclub on the Sunset strip in Hollywood.
Anyway the kids will love this movie, but for me it was cute with not a
lot of jokes that made me laugh but it is only a 90 minute movie (Thank
goodness). Overall I thought it was just an ok movie that was made
for kids and adults just kind of grin and bear it.
Overall Rating: 2.5
Honey Farms (out of 5). Re-Watch Value: low (Unless you're a kid than you
might want to see it over again).
Trivia: The first two movie trailers had Jerry
Seinfeld trying to make a live action Bee Movie. After watching the disastrous
results, Steven Spielberg asks, "Why don't you just make it a cartoon?"
