Fantastic
Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (PG)
Robert's Review
The Fantastic Four
are back and they're just trying to live their "normal" lives (as normal
as the life of super celebrities can be) and things are going really well
for them, now that Dr. Doom is dead – or so they think. When the Silver
Surfer, the enigmatic, intergalactic herald of Galactus shows up and starts
to prepare the Earth for destruction, the Fantastic Four must find a way
to stop him, but it won't be easy… he's far too powerful. To make matters
even worse, their mortal enemy Dr. Doom reappears and they must confront
him as well, or all hope will be lost.
"Fantastic Four:
Rise of the Silver Surfer" was AWESOME! It's hands-down one of the most
entertaining movies of the summer. The first half of the movie is hysterically
funny and the jokes are non-stop between the characters (especially Johnny
Storm, that guy cracks me up). Then in the second half of the movie, the
jokes aren't as prevalent, but the story is expanded to show their pain
of trying to live "normal" lives, while constantly being in the public
eye as super celebrities… well, that AND having the fate of the world resting
on their shoulders – again. The animation is top-notch and really eye-popping,
crisp and beautifully rendered. The story/script is brilliantly written
and it really focuses on doing great character development and really showing
the camaraderie that the Fantastic Four members have with each other. Even
the Silver Surfer is developed well and he's really cool to watch. Overall,
this sequel was way better than the first "Fantastic Four" movie, which
was very pleasantly surprising, and I'll happily recommend it as a "Must-See"
movie for this Summer. In fact, I'll probably go see it again this weekend.
All in all, I'd give
this movie 4.5 STARS (out of 5). Re-watch value: HIGH (In fact, I'll probably
go see it again this weekend).
Brett's Review
Marvel's first family
of superheroes, The Fantastic Four, meets their greatest challenge yet
in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" as the enigmatic, intergalactic
herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction.
As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue,
Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront
the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope
is lost. As the F4 crew makes a big comeback from the near disastrous
F4 movie in 2005, I have to say I was very impressed. It now seems
like everyone is getting comfortable with their characters, the chemistry
is much better and the humor was awesome. I think this F4 was better
than the first one and for a sequel that is a hard thing to accomplish.
I was completely entertained all throughout the movie and it almost seemed
to go by too fast. However the ending was a bit over the top L it
felt like the whole crew was putting forth the best effort and the movie
was going great and then "I'm tired and bored let's just wrap this up and
call it a day" type of ending. Other than that this was by far one
of the best superhero movies I have seen and probably one of the best movies
of the summer.
Overall Rating: FANTASTIC
(lol…sorry) 4 Stars (out of 5). Re-Watch Value: High (I'm going to see
it again this weekend with some friends & yes a DVD purchase).
