Robert's Review

Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) is a rebellious, uncontrollable teenager who drinks, swears, has sex and does whatever she wants. After she crashes her new fancy sports car and pushes her mother Lilly (Felicity Huffman) too far, Lilly decides to take Rachel to live with her grandmother Georgia (Jane Fonda) in Idaho for the summer. Lilly can't stand her mom and swore she'd never return, but desperate times call for desperate measures – and just maybe Georgia's strict rules and no-nonsense, GOD comes first, attitude will straighten Rachel out. In fact the whole town is Mormon, which comes as culture shock to Rachel who misses her friends and her life back in California. She resents her mom for making her spend her summer with her grandmother, who she also can't stand… but she passes the time by working for a local veterinarian and causing all sorts of problems for locals, such as corrupting good Mormons, seducing every cute guy she meets, verbally ripping people to shreds, etc. Having to follow and abide by Georgia's rules, however, helps to knock her guard down… and soon, she begins to open up to people about why she's so angry and rebellious all the time. As Rachel's secrets are told, it leads the three women down a path of understanding and causes them to form a bond that can never be broken.

I had a great time watching "Georgia Rule" and would recommend it to any guy who's thinking it's just a chick-flick. It is, but it's actually pretty funny and has enough going for it to keep the guys entertained too. Also, Lindsay Lohan goes wild in this movie so it's pretty crazy at times. She's like a sex-bomb waiting to explode, so she tries to have her way with every guy she meets. Then when some local Mormon girls get mad at her and threaten her... she tells them that she's going to hunt down each of their boyfriends and screw their brains out if they don't leave her alone. I almost fell out of my seat and couldn't stop laughing. At first, when the movie began, I really couldn't tell if Lindsay Lohan was acting or not. I thought that maybe she was just being herself and just being incredibly obnoxious, but then as the story progressed and Rachel's secrets were told, I was actually very impressed by her acting. She really owned that character role and she did a great job. Overall, "Georgia Rule" was a surprisingly good movie. It's got lots of drama, lots of humor, interesting characters, and a sex-crazed juggernaut of destruction that Lindsay Lohan played quite well. It's by no means a perfect movie, but I definitely had a lot of fun. 

All in all, I'd give this movie 4 STARS (out of 5). Re-watch value: HIGH (I'll watch it again for sure. Lindsay Lohan was awesome and had me laughing so hard my face was hurting).

"Georgia Rule" is surprisingly a very funny movie with some great talent.  Rebellious teenager Rachel (Lindsey Lohan) screams swears drinks and is, in a word, uncontrollable. With her latest car crash, Rachel has broken the final rule in mom Lilly's (Felicity Huffman) San Francisco home. With nowhere else to take the impulsive and rambunctious girl, Lilly hauls her daughter to the one place she swore she'd never return--her own mother's Idaho farm. Matriarch Georgia (Jane Fonda) is not your typical sweet and doting grandmother. She lives her life by a number of unbreakable rules, demanding anyone who shares her home do the same--God comes first and hard work comes a very close second. Now saddled with raising the young woman, it will require each patient breath she takes to understand Rachel's fury. But as Rachel succumbs to her summer of misery and shakes up the tiny Mormon town, Georgia notices something is changing within her granddaughter. Given structure and responsibilities, Rachel is letting her guard down and learning compassion, especially for her mother. Her journey will lead all three women to revelations of buried family secrets and an understanding that--regardless what happens--the ties that bind can never be broken. 

I must admit I didn't have very many high hopes for this movie; however after viewing it I was very surprised.  First Jane Fonda she is 70 years old and looks like a million dollars (almost like she is in her 40-50's).  Fonda's performance was nothing short of outstanding, and the chemistry between her and Huffman was simply remarkable.  Now to turn my attention to "fire crotch" Lohan seemed to take to her role like a fish to water, it was almost as if the director and screenwriter said "here is what everyone else is going to do and say…you just adlib like you would in real life."  The role of Rachel seemed to be made with Lohan in mind.  She was amazingly funny and it seemed like you were watching Lindsey as she normally is in real life.  There did however seem to be a little animosity between Lohan and Fonda but it just made the movie all the better.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars (out of 5). Re-Watch Value: High (I will purchase on DVD).

Trivia: Lindsay Lohan received a warning letter from the studio's CEO James G. Robinson (Morgan Creek Productions) for her lack of professionalism. The letter was later released to the media and directly noted Lohan's "discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional" conduct and went on to say her actions were those of a "spoiled child" which "has endangered the quality of this picture." Robinson also threatened to sue the 20-year-old star if she continued to delay production.  Fonda praised a studio executive's scolding of Lohan for her absences on the set of the movie.
