Duchovny, why won’t you love me? That’s a real song. I kid
you not.
David
Duchovny
Lyrics
and Music by Bree Sharp
It's
Sunday night; I am curled up in my room
The
TV light fills my heart like a balloon
I
hold it in as best I can; I know I'm just another fan,
But
I can't help feeling I could love this secret agent man.....
And
I can't wait any more for him to discover me.
I
got it bad for David Duchovny
David
Duchovny, why won't you love me, why won't
you
love me, why won't you love me?
My
friends all tell me, "Girl you know it's just
a
show," but deep within his eyes I see me
wrapped
up like a bow,
Watching
the sky for a sign, the FBI's on my mind,
I'm
waiting for the day when my lucky stars align
In
the form of David Duchovny, floating above me,
in
the alien light of the spaceship of love, oh,
David
Duchovny, hovering above me, American
Heathcliff,
brooding and coming,
David
Duchovny, why won't you love me, why won't
you
love me, why won't you love me?
So
smooth and so smart, he's abducted my heart,
and
I'm falling apart from the looks I've
received
from those eyes;
I
can't believe, well you can say I'm naive,
but
he told me to believe......
Ooooooooo....
My
bags are packed, I am ready for my flight,
Gonna
put an end to my daydream days and
sleepless
nights,
Sitting
like a mindless clone, wishing he would
tap
my phone,
Just
to hear the breath of the man, the myth, the monotone...
And
I would say
David
Duchovny, why won't you love me, why won't
you
love me, why won't you love me?
David
Duchovny, why won't you love me, why won't
you
love me, why won't you love me?
David
Duchovny, I want you to love me, to kiss
and
to hug me, debrief and debug me,
David
Duchovny, I know you could love me, I'm
sweet
and I'm cuddly,
I'm
gonna kill Scully!
David
Duchovny, why won't you love me, why won't
you
love me, why won't you love me?
Yeah.......
Now
why would you think that David Duchovny inspires such adulation?
I’ve seen him up close and personal on the set of “The X-Files” when I
was an extra in season 2, The Red Museum episode in 1994. He’s six
feet tall, slender, and has a really big nose. He wasn’t interested
in talking to anyone who didn’t have a speaking part or who wasn’t the
director or part of the crew. He played Frisbee with his dog Blue
between scenes in a farm field. It’s not really David’s looks that
make him interesting although he’s admittedly downright hot in his new
series “Californication.” Perhaps it is the fact that he’s got a
big brain – holds degrees from Princeton and Yale – an amazingly dry, deadpan
and wryly wicked sense of humour ("I'm frightened by the possibilities
of my own lack of talent."), was nominated for an Emmy several times and
won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV series.
David
Duchovny (which means “spiritual” in Russian) is a pop culture icon for
playing Special Agent Fox Mulder in the long-running Sci-Fi thriller treasure
that was “The X-Files” but he has managed not to get pigeon-holed and has
appeared in just about every genre of film. He can do it all: act
convincingly on stage and in drama, comedy, sci-fi, horror and family films;
write, produce and direct. After two decades as a successful Hollywood
actor, David Duchovny keeps getting more and more interesting to watch.
Born
David William on August 7, 1960 in New York City to writer/publicist Amram
and school administrator Margaret Duchovny ("I'm half Jewish, half Scottish.
It's hard for me to buy anything."), he has a brother Daniel, sister Laurie
and a stepbrother named Jonathan Sahula. David has been married to
the beautiful and talented Téa Leoni for ten years and together
they have two children, 8 year old Madelaine West and five year old Kyd
Miller. David’s a vegetarian, a sports fan, speaks French, Latin
and Hebrew and apparently does a mean impersonation of Jeff Goldblum.
The man is fascinating!
David
got his break with a bit part in 1988’s “Working Girl” and hasn’t had much
of a break since! I first noticed him in the early 90’s when he appeared
in the quirky television mini-series “Twin Peaks” as DEA cross-dressing
Agent Dennis/Denise Bryson. Although I missed his work on the “Red
Shoe Diaries”, he won me over with his role in 1991’s “The Rapture” co-starring
Mimi Rogers which was one of the most disturbing and challenging movies
about faith I’ve ever seen. Following “The Rapture”, David appeared
in the family favourite “Beethoven”, Richard Attenborough’s “Chaplin”,
the serial killer thriller “Kalifornia” co-starring a then little known
Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis, and numerous episodes of “Red Shoe Diaries”
before he struck solid gold in 1993 with “The X-Files.” For me, and
millions of X-Phile fans everywhere that intelligent, phenomenal series
was the best thing on television for many years and we wait with anticipation
for the next X-File movie, due out in 2009. Although Duchovny will
forever be best known for being Mulder, his work since the series finished
in 2002 has been eclectic and noteworthy.
In
1997, David played Dr. Eugene Sands in the gangster movie “Playing God”
co-starring Timothy Hutton and Angelina Jolie; in 2000, his friend Bonnie
Hunt directed him and Minnie Driver in “Return to Me”; 2001 gave us two
memorable amusing performances in “Evolution” and “Zoolander.” David
co-starred in Steven Soderbergh’s “Full Frontal” along side Julia Roberts
and Catherine Keener, the 2004 Nia Vardalos scripted “Connie and Carla”,
and wrote and directed his first feature film, the lovely gem “House of
D” co-starring Anton Yelchin of “Huff”, Téa Leoni and Robin Williams.
I was recently pleased to discover “Trust The Man”, a 2005 romantic comedy
starring Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup and Maggie Gyllenhaal. David
is also appearing in this year’s upcoming “Things We Lost In The Fire”
opposite Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro.
What
every Duchovny fan will be devastated to miss out on is the fabulous new
HBO series “Californication” co-starring the stunning and gifted Natasha
McElhone. Now airing on The Movie Network, it is must see TV!
David has never been sexier or more sarcastic or irreverent in his role
as the hard partying, promiscuous author with writer’s block, Hank Moody.
Watching Hank juggle his relationship with his agent, precocious 12 year
old daughter and his ex-girlfriend who is her mother as well as his rapacious
appetite for beautiful women is absolutely delicious and irresistible!
He has never seen so much action, shown so much of his naked butt or been
better fun to watch!
A favourite
on the talk show circuit, two-time guest host of Saturday Night Live, recurring
guest on “Howard Stern” and “The Larry Sanders Show”, guest on “Frasier”,
“The Simpsons”, “Life With Bonnie” and “Sex and the City” and a subject
of the prestigious “Inside The Actor’s Studio”, David has never fallen
from the Hollywood radar and isn’t likely about to. He recently completed
filming Vincent Perez’s horror flic “Si j’étais toi” (a.k.a. “The
Secret”) with the wonderful Lili Taylor and of course, there will be that
second X-Files film to look forward to in 2009. In the meantime,
don’t miss him on “Californication!” Oh David Duchovny, why won’t
you love me? www.duchovny.net. |
