| 7 Days 2 Perfection
with their album Losing My Faith has made it clear that they are out to
make a stand in The Rock Industry
Losing My Faith has
filled a void that has seemed to be getting a little bit bigger as of late
for me. I am finding more and more that radio has started to play band
that almost sound the same more and more as of late. The vocals from Chris
Ning has the sound of Heavy Metal from the 80’s and 90’s which I find is
getting harder and harder to find. Other influences that the members of
7 Days 2 Perfection brings to their music are Tool, Velvet Revolver, System
Of A Down and Alice In Chains.
7 Days 2 Perfection
is made up of five members which include Chris Ning on Lead Vocals, Alan
Kulka on Lead Guitar and Vocals, Jack on Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals,
Justin Martinko on Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals, Jeremy Kleynhans on
the Skins.
The First song, which
is also the Title Track “Losing My Faith” and is also probably the song
that will make this band. The guitars have a wide variety of Influences
that I can Pick out. To keep the list short I will say Metallica, and pretty
much every metal bands from the early and mid Metallica era. The opening
riff just begs you into listening to the song, the same riff is played
throughout the song. What I like about the vocals is that they are at a
slower tempo then the guitars and drums in the song for the most part.
I find it helps to balance out the song a little bit. About three quarters
of the way through the song the tempo of the song throttles down and then
there is a nice small but noticeable drum roll that picks the song back
up until the end.
The third track “Kiss
My Heart Goodbye” picks up the album with a heavier sound. Godsmack would
be a good reference to relate the heaviness of the song to. The vocals
give the nice heavy guitar riffs a good run for their money in being the
best factor in the song. Chris lets out a classic awesome rock Scream about
halfway through the song which to me pretty much steals the song from the
rest of the band. I would like to see him pull of this sound live in concert.
In a couple of places behind the heavy guitar riffs there is also another
higher pitched guitar that is being played, I do like how the guitar is
being played behind the riff because I feel it would take away the strength
of the song if this guitar was only being played.
At the start of “The
Other Side” it almost has a Marilyn Manson type of starting with a bit
of guitar distortion and then turns into a riff that somewhat resembles
a guitar riff from Godsmack. I like the back ground vocals that are kind
of hidden into the background of the song. The guitars in a couple of verses
if they were a bit heavier I think the song would have gained more notoriety
on the album. But with changing the heaviness of the guitars it would stray
away from 7 Days 2 Perfection sound. In the end I still take notice to
the vocals more than to anything else.
