| Art
of Chaos has driven the sounds of Rock, Metal and Alternative and packed
their sound into a Seven song EP called Lucid. Coming out of Los Angeles,
Art of Chaos is made up of four members; Matt Ardisson on Lead Guitar,
Dave Feldman on the Drums, Brian Torres on Lead Vocals and Jeff Sutton
on the Bass Guitar.
After
listening through Lucid the first time I could easily see the band came
up with their name. From their polished sound, the Heavy Guitar Riffs,
to their arm hair raising screams from Brian on Vocals Art Of Chaos is
the perfect choice for the band name.
Art
Of Chaos has also played to a wide range of audiences and have played shows
in such California bars as The Hard Rock Café, The Viper Room, The
House Of Blues on Sunset and they have played to audiences at the University
of California Irvine, and The University of Southern California.
The
starting of the first song which is “Chaos Factor” gets your heart beating
a little faster and sets the rhythm for the Album. This song title just
like the band name picks out the sound perfectly. This was immediately
my favourite song from the album. The guitars are nice and heavy; all of
the instruments in the song mix smooth and flow together perfectly. The
starting of the song to me simulated my heart beating when I first had
a listen and still listen to. The Shrill that Brian lets off near the end
of the song I find just brings the song up to the next level.
If
you have already listened to the album “Maker Maker” should have knocked
you on your ass the first time you heard the opening riff of the song.
If you haven’t, take yourself on over to (myspace.com/artofchaos) and listen
to “Maker Maker”. If this opening Guitar Riff doesn’t blow you off of your
seat and knock you down on your ass, you are either deaf or you have to
clean your ears out. Right after the opening riff is done the Art Of Chaos’s
deep dulcet sound kicks in. The lyrics are geared and written to the title
of the song, one section of the lyrics that I thought was interesting was...
Maker,
Maker I’m sorrier than ever
For
killing your land in search of all my treasure
For
I have trucked and trekked all over all these flowers
For
I have spat and stepped on this ground with my powers
And
I’ve not lent my greedy hands
To
helping my fellow man…
The
Title track “Lucid” is the second last track on the album. The song opens
up with a deep and heavy drum solo then Brian kicks in with his vocals
about ten seconds into the song. The instruments stop except for Jeff on
bass just past the middle of the song then Brian goes into a fast mean-like
spoken lyrics...
Supposed
to
Have
to
Need
to
Me
too
All
the things that we will bleed through
Forward
Upward
Another
mile
All
you said would make us smile
Thrive
Acquire
Wretched
liar
Wonder
why we turn to ire?
Think
you’ve got us by the balls
Think
you’ve got us chained to walls?
“Lucid”
finishes out the last thirty seconds or so with a slow bleeding guitar
being played.
The
album was recorded at the Jim Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
Other bands that have come out of this studio include The Eagles, No Doubt
and David Lee Roth. What I still can’t understand is how the band is still
looking for a label to represent them. If I had the money I wouldn’t think
twice about signing the band, and you shouldn’t think twice if you listen
to Metal on not picking up this album.
