| Demigod:
a man of deity, a person highly honoured or revered. Thrust into Black
Metal at its finest, one will find themselves in the depths of Behemoth's
2004 release "Demi God". Their supernatural tones are the creations of
a master piece. Following their previous 6 full length CD's, numerous compilations,
alongside demos, EPs and VHS/DVDs, their aptitude for making new and exhilarating
music surpasses that of any other band.
Behemoth
is the spawn of European Black Metal. They are noted for their unearthly
lyrics bellowed by Nergal- lead vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist, fierce
beats performed by Inferno- drums, and thunderous booms echoed through
Orion- bass. Behemoth has been in existence since 1991 and have continued
their intense sound. Signed to Century Media for Demigod's establishment,
Olympic recordings has produced a ten track album for the ages.
Enter
"Sculpting the Throne ov Seth", the first track on the CD. Beginning with
an intricate acoustic guitar melody then transitioning to the distortion
of heavy riffs we encounter Behemoth's Godly presence. A declaration of
the reign of power amongst men predicts the success of Behemoth. The continuous
rage of Behemoth is present throughout the album.
Being
trapped in track 3 "Conquer All" forms the realization of the ingenuity
of Demigod. Their expertise song formation is mind boggling. A spanish
sounding guitar solo in "The Nephilim Rising" demonstrates the bands versatility.
Being on the topic of versatility, when listening to the drums it is noticeable
how much effort is put into the unique style, the speed is impeccable.
Skipping onto track 9 we enter the reckoning of the Demigod "Slaves Shall
Serve". The conquering lyrics of a higher being set a dark atmosphere which
quenches the thirst of those in search of a conflicting religious protest.
Concluding
with "The Reign ov Shemsu-Hor", the listener is broken free from the monotony
of existence. The song was inspired by Andrew Collin's book "From the ashes
of the angels. The forbidden legacy of a fallen race". The track is a depiction
of the belief of the sacred society where fallen angels roamed the Earth,
which existed in Egypt, pre-dating the ancient Egyptian era. "I have not
seen a man who is not God already..." this being said, as Gods this music
is ours to have, be sure to make it yours.
