Bon Jovi
Bounce
Island
2002
Another solid album from Jon Bon Jovi and company. Bounce is everything you would expect from a Bon Jovi album with a few surprises. This is Bon Jovi's heaviest album to date. Ritchie Sambora's mammoth  down tuned riffs power many of the album's 12 tracks. Bounce is more than one big guitar riff however. There are story songs like "Joey", fist clenching ballads like "Misunderstood" but it's the ultra anthemic guitar heavy title track "Bounce", first single "Everyday",and "Undivided" that make the biggest impact. Bon Jovi was obviously quite affected by the 9/11 tragedy as evidenced in the lyrics to many of Bounce's tracks especially "Undivided". Bon Jovi have survived so long on the strength of their songwriting and consistency of the quality of their albums so it was no surprise that this album was as solid as it is. Another surprise with Bonce however is electronica finding it's way into Bon Jovi's music. Don't worry it's used somewhat sparingly ....Bon Jovi hasn't gone Moby on you. I would be the first one to bitch if they did.I hate Moby.
