Common,
also known as common sense, has been around since the 1980s, but only to
release his most powerful and influencial album yet; BE.
I will
now review my favourite three tracks.
Track
1 - Be
a
Jazz/Rap mix which has an uplifting beat, and lyrics to match. "The Present
Is A Gift, and I Just Wanna Be". He is teaching the younger kids to savour
their present life. The intro of the album, which makes you want to listen
to it even more. A Brilliant fusion of Jazz and Rap, excellent work
by both Common and Kanye West.
Track
4 - Faithful
A
brilliant and soulful beat to match lyrics of Common, John Legend and Bilal.
A story of Commons past struggles with women, as well as telling a story
of him beating temptation. "He went home to his lady, these were his confessions,
baby ur a blessing and my best friend". Maybe these lyrics dont touch other
people as much as they touch me, but this song and its lyrics can lift
my spirits.
Track
8 - The Food
"Everybody
gotta eat right?" You can see that Common can mix real issues in the world
with such rap beats which make your spirits lift even in the worse of moods.
"I, I know i can make it right, if i could just swallow my pride, but i
cant run away or put my gun away and you cant follow me". A part of the
song preformed By Kanye West.
Overall,
Common has done a good job in getting his album Co-Produced By Kanye West,
one of the best producers/rappers of our time. But how can we forget commons
lyrics, and a quote made by one of the most well-known and legendary rappers
of this time: "I Wish i could rap like common" - JAY Z
