| I
first heard Encore while sitting in a Modern Taxi taking me home from the
nightlife. Should have asked the cabbie's name but he may thought I was
trying to pick-him-up so I stayed focus to the music pounding from the
speakers. I did ask if that's the new Eminem cd, which he replied proudly
with a yes; probably surprised someone over the age of 25 recognized it.
We ended up talking about the cd which led me to getting a copy so here
goes.
This
Eminem album has something for everyone. Encore is a hardcore attack on
pop culture, the media and the erosion of free speech. The album is violent,
sexually explicit and homophobic.
Eminem
continues his rap scene style with the usual name dropping including celebs
Michael Jackson, Christopher Reeve and inside references of gang culture
to the music recording industry. The album also reminds you how much he
hated his Detroit childhood and how his ex wife makes him sick in the song
Puke.
Yes,
as with any Eminem album use however much parental discretion you feel
is necessary. There is explicit content and some shots at former Mouseketeers
turned bubble head. Must be the ears.
Just
like when you were a pre-teen it contains all the wonderful sounds you
made with your first cassette recorder ( or .mp3 ) including breath taking
sounds of burps and farts. Wonder if he'll cash in on the ringtone craze
with this?
George
W. Mosh, I mean Bush is in the spotlight which made radio/videoplay were
permitted, and just intime for the 2004 US Election. Proves any kind of
publicity is good publicity.
Dispite
his noticable lack of self-respect or respect to others individuality,
Eminem is still one of the most gifted rappers ever to emerge from the
hip-hop scene.
"You
find me offensive? I find you offensive for finding me offensive." - kinda
reminded me of the famous DiNiro line from Taxi Driver "...You looking
at me?... ".
Put
the kiddies to bed, kick the cat, puke in the fish tank, and sing along
with the real Slim Shady. Encore will sell millions, word.
