For A Good Time Call....
Girlz Like That & The Hitman
Jezebel Records
2003
Girlz Like That & The Hitman (not the wrestler ...I checked) is yet another great Kingston group (well partly) that have not had their talents duly recognized. Atleast not locally.

Infact the band is quite popular in the States... most notably Connecticut... where The Hitman (once again not the wrestler) and the band's extrordinary lead guitarist Denise reside Anyway it's time the band get thir due respect and I'll be the one to give it to them. Jam packed full of exquisite harmonies , screaming lead guitar licks and raunchy female vocals this record really is a treat to listen to. I immediately fell in love with lead vocalist Robin Collins' gritty vocals which could be likened to many .. Lita Ford, Courtney Love , Pat Benatar take your pick. The most common comment about her raspy vocals is that she sounds like a man. I'm sure Melissa Etheridge got the same thing. Robin could also draw comparisons to Miss Etheridge.... actually the band covers Melissa Ethridge's "Brave and Crazy" on the album.

The albums title comes from the band's song "Jezebel" the raunchiest number on the album (and my personal favorite). Plenty of solid tracks here .... especially "Comeback", "Forever" and "Black Moon". GLT & HM manage to combine elements of rock, folk, blues and pop to into a familiar yet fresh sound that can be both energetic and laid back. This is one band that has done their homework and spent alot of time practicing ....the proof is in the pudding as they say.
